About us
How it started
Founded by Dr Sangeeta Mittal, and inspired by the work of pioneering late great forefather of yoga therapy, Dr. Robin Munro, The London Yoga Therapy Centre is has been re-imagined for the diverse population it serves today and with a focus on women’s wellbeing, to support generations into the future.
Rooted in South London, Dr Mittal trained as both a medical doctor and a yoga teacher. She also completed a health psychology degree and then trained and worked at some of the UK’s most respected institutions.
Dr Mittal’s journey bridges two worlds. Raised in a culture where yogic models are integral in daily life, she completed clinical work, research with breast cancer survivors with premature menopause, and also spent time working in global health and pharmaceutical innovation, giving her deep insight into the challenges many people face in conventional healthcare - especially when navigating transitional life stages, grief and relationships.
She was also increasingly aware of healthcare disparities and keen to address these to support her local diverse community, and raise awareness to support prevention and personalised medicine approaches, beyond the prescription, for the wider benefit of society.
Since stepping away from her clinical commitments, Dr Mittal has furthered her education and invested in extensive specialised yoga teacher training, supported her clients and built a successful business online and now focuses on offering personalised, one-to-one trauma-informed yoga therapy. She also provides weekly classes on a donation basis for NHS patients, as part of the Yoga4Health Social Prescribing Initiative.
At the heart of her work is a belief that true longevity is derived from living mindfully with purpose and a sense belonging within the community.
These values are woven into every aspect of the centre’s work. The specialist skills Dr. Mittal has includes a trauma-informed approach, somatic counselling, therapy for musculo-skeletal system, mental health challenges, endocrine, autoimmune, cardiac, gut and fertility, pregnancy, postnatal care, peri-menopause and supporting clients with cancer-related fatigue, anxiety and depression.
Dr Mittal is proud to serve her community- and we warmly welcome people of all backgrounds to join us. She is bilingual, fluent in english and hindi.
We also have a team of qualified yoga therapists who support The London Yoga Therapy Centre across Europe and beyond.
